Australian Education Awards 2022

The annual Australian Education Awards, brought to you by The Educator, is the leading independent awards event in the K-12 education sector. Now in its fifth year, the awards showcase the top-performing schools, principals, department heads and teachers for their outstanding achievements and transformative work that makes a profound difference to the lives of young people across Australia.

Prairiewood is proud to be listed as an Excellence Awardee in the most outstanding government secondary school in Australia category. Our application is based on our 2021 achievements and the award reflects achievements in the following criteria:

  • Consistently high standards of teaching and learning
  • Academic and other achievements during the 2021 school year
  • Rigorous professional learning to improve teaching and curriculum delivery
  • Strong communication links with students, parents, teachers and the wider community
  • Effective management of facilities, finances and human resources
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovation and continuous improvement

This award is open to all government secondary schools in Australia.   We are excited to join another local school, Cabramatta High School, listed as one of the nine national finalists.  Congratulations also to Prairievale Public School on their Excellence Awardee status in the “Best Remote Learning Program” category.

Our Principal, Ms Belinda Giudice, comments:

“Prairiewood High School (PHS) excelled during a year dominated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite socio-educational disadvantage and 16 weeks of remote learning as a Fairfield LGA school, our 2021 HSC results surpassed all others in the school’s history, improving more than 100 places to be ranked 80th in NSW. We yielded 10 students achieving 99+ ATARs, our highest number of HSC ‘All Rounders’ (9), and 23 other students achieving a 90+ ATAR.

Our outstanding achievements in 2021 were underpinned by an evidence-informed School Plan,  purposeful and principled use of finances to improve student learning, innovative human resource use, and a strong investment in supporting our student population during both face-to-face and remote learning.

We are particularly excited to be an Excellence Awardee and thank our 30+ learning alliance academic, business, industry, and community partners, which drive our culture of high expectations, aspiration and opportunity for our students and families.  May I acknowledge our hard-working students and teachers and thank our parents/carers and families for the trust they put in us each day. This is a journey that celebrates our extraordinary public school.  We look forward to the Awards Night on August 12th 2022”.
