PHS has many university partnerships. Sometimes they do not operate every year as it is dependent on university funding and staffing.
PHS has partnered with the U@Uni Academy which is an alternate, non-ATAR entry pathway to study at UTS. The program runs for two years, starting at the end of Year 10 where students take part in a variety of on-campus experiences and in-school mentoring and tutoring.
PHS has partnered with NSW Equity Consortium with UNSW, UTS and Macquarie University to support and enhance the delivery of curriculum provision. This program began in 2021 and will operate for 3 years. It involves Yr 7, 8 and 9 students until the end of 2023.
We are also part of the Fast Forward Program at Western Sydney University. 20 students from each year, Years 9-12, visit the campus once per year or have sessions with staff from the University to discuss career pathways and possible courses.
PHS is also part of the LEAP UP Mentoring Program which matches high school students from refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds with Macquarie University student mentors. Through mentoring, the program aims to support students with their investigation and successful transition into higher education.
PHS is a UNSW Gateway school. Gateway is a three-year program for students in Years 10 – 12. The program supports students to make decisions about degree choice and future careers and to succeed in their HSC. The program is also key to receiving an early conditional offer to UNSW through the Gateway Admission Pathway.
PHS has partnered with the University of Sydney for the Yr 12 Transition program, ACTIVATE USYD. The students take part in a workshop which aims at enriching student understanding and confidence in applying for university courses, scholarships and admission pathways.
Students are made aware of these opportunities via their Year Advisers or the Careers Adviser.
