Like all NSW public schools, we promote the healthy development of students through:
- school programs and practices that protect and promote health and safety
- supporting individual students who need help with health issues
- providing first aid and temporary care of students who become unwell or who have an accident at school.
Student wellbeing
Like all NSW public schools, we provide safe learning and teaching environments to encourage healthy, happy, successful and productive students.
The department is committed to creating quality learning opportunities for children and young people. These opportunities support wellbeing through positive and respectful relationships and fostering a sense of belonging to the school and community.
The Wellbeing Framework for Schools helps schools support the cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual development of students and allows them to connect, succeed and thrive throughout their education.
Prairiewood High School aims to provide a safe and positive learning environment in which all students can reach their individual maximum potential. The Student Wellbeing Policy reflects and reinforces the Values, Beliefs and Mission Statement of Prairiewood High School.
Student Wellbeing referral form
If you have any concerns about your child or peers use the above form to make a referral to the Wellbeing team. You will be asked a few short questions about the concern and the form will be sent through to someone who can help. Any questions please call the school and ask for Ms Bond. This form will only be monitored during school hours. If parents are ever concerned about the immediate safety of their child please contact emergency services on 000.
Positive Behaviour for Learning
At our school, we use Positive Behaviour for Learning – a whole-school approach for creating a positive, safe and supportive school climate where students can learn and develop. Our whole school community works together to establish expected behaviours and teach them to all students.
At Prairiewood High School our leaders consist of School Captains, Vice Captains, Prefects, the Student Representative Council and Sports Council. The Prefects are elected by their Year 12 peers and staff. The Captains and Vice Captains are then chosen by a panel of teachers and students from the Prefect cohort. The SRC and Sports Council are elected by their peers. For more details please visit our Student Leadership page.
