Women in STEM
Inspiring the Next Generation of Women in STEM
Our school is proud to be part of the Khuda Women in STEM Program, an exciting partnership with the University of Sydney that is helping young women discover the possibilities of careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
The program aims to increase the participation of women in STEM by providing students with hands-on learning experiences, mentorship opportunities, academic support and exposure to real-world STEM pathways. Through engaging workshops, STEM challenges and collaborative projects, students develop their skills, confidence and curiosity while connecting with like-minded peers and industry professionals.
Students in Years 7–10 can become involved through STEM outreach activities delivered at school, while senior students have the opportunity to apply for the Khuda Women in STEM Academy. Academy participants receive mentoring, leadership development, university experiences, academic support and financial assistance as they explore future STEM study and career opportunities.
Our students were excited to take part in a special media opportunity highlighting the success of the Khuda Women in STEM Program. The visit showcased students actively engaged in STEM learning and celebrated the impact the program is having in inspiring young women to pursue STEM pathways. The event attracted media attention, including coverage by SBS and the Daily Telegraph, providing our students with a wonderful opportunity to share their experiences and demonstrate their passion for innovation, problem-solving and discovery.
We congratulate all students involved and look forward to continuing to build a strong culture of STEM participation, leadership and achievement within our school community.

At Prairiewood High School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.

Our co-curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Creative and Performing Arts
The PHS Choir participated in "In Concert" organised by the Arts Unit. Students learnt challenging repertoire ranging from Mozart's infamous Requiem, to contemporary choral works by Australian composers Whitwell, Byrne and Walker. Students performed at the Sydney Opera House among 800 singers from across 40 different secondary schools. The concert was an inspiring celebration
Work Ready Qualfications
Prairiewood High School offers programs focused on practical learning experiences, including career exploration, workplace communication, and hands-on training. These programs aim to build students’ confidence, employability, and readiness for further education. Examples include:
