ADVICE TO PARENTS AND STUDENTS ON RETURN TO SCHOOL FOR TERM 2 2021 & KEY INFORMATION REGARDING CHANGES TO SCHOOL OPERATIONS AND BUS ROUTE CHANGES

Dear Parents/Carers and Students,

Thank you for your support for our changes in school operations during Term 1.

Key information for return to school in Term 2

School concludes for students this Thursday 1 April 2021. Normally the Monday 19 April would be a School Development Day (SDD) and pupil free. However at PHS Monday 19 will be a normal school day for students.

Only at Prairiewood High School, we will be moving the SDD to Friday 23 April 2021. The school will not be open for instruction that day as we have external providers providing staff training that day. Please contact the school if you would like to discuss this matter.

The Athletics Carnival will take place on Thursday 22 April and the Cross Country Carnival will take place on Friday 7 May.

Key changes to school operations in term 2

Bell Times, Roll Call and finish time Week B Fridays

Thank you for your support during this term when Roll Call was abolished and school started at 8.30. The majority of students are arriving on time for the 8.25 warning bell. We do ask that you encourage your child to wake with plenty of time for breakfast and to be at school by 8.25am so that school can begin at 8.30 with Period 1, when the roll is marked.

Every second Friday (Week B) the school has been concluding at 1.30pm. Due to feedback from our community and a change of canteen management we are now able to allow students to leave at 1.00pm at the beginning of lunch. This will occur from the start of next term, every Friday Week B. This does not change the learning time of the day (i.e. school concluding after the period 4 lesson).

Changes to Bus Routes from Transport NSW

From Sunday 18 April, Transport for NSW will be making changes to some bus routes and timetables across North West and Western Sydney. There will also be adjustments to some routes that school students use, however there will be no changes to dedicated school services.

Detailed trip planning information will be available on transportnsw.info in early April. Please check this website during the holidays so that you can plan your child’s trip to school and check the times and locations for buses, as they may have changed. Please call 131 500 if you are unable to use the website.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish our community a happy break and a Happy Easter if you celebrate it.

Yours sincerely,

Ms Belinda Giudice
