First Nations
Our First Nations students at Prairiewood High School are given the diverse opportunities to attain their highest educational outcomes. Commencing from the beginning of the day, our First Nations students meet to yarn, share and strengthen their connection with staff and peers at Roll Call. Stories are shared, ideas discussed and relationships built, fostering a powerful student voice, and making connections with their families and communities.
Prairiewood High School has a strong and growing First Nations team of teachers who check in with all students throughout the school day. The extra curricular activities like Pulse Alive Dance team, individual student mentoring with agencies like the CSIRO, student attendance at camps and Career Days, assist in enhancing and the attainment of the PLP (Personalise Learning Plan) goals. Student voice is at the heart of future projects like the new yarning circle and garden, as well as the deepening of cultural knowledge in our classrooms.
