Agricultural Club and Agricultural Show Team

Prairiewood High School Agricultural Club

Prairiewood High School proudly boasts its own farm! Animals on the farm include: cows, sheep, pigs, chicken, turkeys and our farm dogs, Jack and Pip!

All students have the opportunity to engage in Agricultural lessons on the farm, where they learn animal care and husbandry amongst a range of livestock. The educational focus is on regenerative and sustainable agriculture practices and students have the opportunities to use some cutting edge technology in their studies.

This occurs within the Agriculture & Food unit of the Mandatory TAS (Technology & Applied Studies) for Year 7 and 8 students. Year 9 & 10 students may elect to study Agriculture and Agrifood Operations (VET). Year 11 and 12 students can extend their VET study, by participating in the Primary Industries course.

The Agriculture Club is led my Mr Mulchay. It offers students with particular interest, more time on the farm at lunchtimes, before and after school and to assist in the holiday volunteer program to manage the livestock.

Students are be able to indulge in a variety of agricultural activities depending on the student's individual interests and seasonal activities. Activities could include animal husbandry, entomology, horticulture, assisting in agricultural show preparation, and much more!
